Companion Avalanche Rescue Skills Practice

Hey Sawatch Slaydies! *** Make sure to read below for meeting place description!***

Lets get together with Meetup host Ashlee Cerda and Shea Lodes to practice our companion rescue skills! Bring your backcountry gear including winter attire, splitboard and skins/flotation, beacon, shovel and probe. We will head over to Old Monarch Pass Road parking lot(up Monarch pass, Hwy 50 and 237) to some low angled terrain near the parking lot and practice companion rescue scenarios together! We will not be practicing in or near avalanche terrain, or touring in the backcountry.

Meet at High Valley Center Bagels-Bikes-Brews in Salida at 9AM to grab a warm beverage, meet some other slaydies in the area, and get on snow to practice and refine your rescue skills together! If you have an extra beacon to help with practicing scenario’s together, bring it! (if you are coming from the other side of the pass, plan to meet at the Old Monarch Road Parking lot around 9:45AM)

* This event is for all who identify with the women community. This event is hosted by a volunteer woman who splitboards in your area. The hosts are not guides or professionals. This is not a structured class, course, or intended to replace any sort of professional training/education in the backcountry. This meetup is hosted as a social event to help facilitate meeting touring partners, practice skills to gain confidence and to uplift and support each other on your splitboarding journey. We do not tour in the backcountry for any meetups. All meetups are limited out of respect for the host and the public. Please cancel your RSVP if you can’t make it so others can have the opportunity.

In collaboration and supported by Weston Backcountry. A special thank you for always supporting Women Who Splitboard, our mission and our vision.
